You don't have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great. ⏰

Meditation is a skill. The more you use it, the better you’ll be at it. Here are some tips to help you make meditation a habit.

OKAY, SO HOW DO YOU MAKE THIS PRACTICE INTO A HABIT?

You probably still don’t have time or you think you don’t have time. But, I promise you it only takes these 3 easy steps!

It’s that simple!

Step 1: Pick the best time to schedule your meditation practice

For many and for myself, I schedule it in the mornings.

I wake up a few minutes before I need to start my day. This may be difficult if you’re on your child’s schedule in the mornings, so if middays (during your lunch hour) or evenings work better, that’s okay.

Step 2: Put it in your Calendar!

You are more likely to do it if you schedule it in advance. Don’t worry about trying to meditate everyday, but allow yourself to select the days that work best for you.

Once you’ve selected the time of day and days of the week that work best, now schedule the amount of time you wish to spend.

If you’re a beginner, try meditating for 2-5 minutes. For days that you may have a little more time, see if you can schedule 15-20 minutes.

The goal is not how long or how often you choose to meditate, but simply scheduling it!

Step 3: Consistency is Key, NOT Perfection!

So, let’s be honest! The fastest way to fall off the bandwagon is when you start to make excuses about your time.

I’ve been here! There were so many times I started to do something and once it became inconvenient or hard…I lost motivation and stopped doing it.

When you make it convenient for yourself, you are more likely to continue with your practice.

So if there’s a day where you simply can’t do it, it’s okay! Don’t be hard on yourself. Instead schedule your next meditation.

Do your best to be consistent with your practice.

Every time will be a little different, but see what shows up in your practice. When you start to feel and see the benefits of your practice, you will be more motivated to continue this journey.

Let me share some deep wisdom!

I’m reading a book called, “The Motivation Myth” by Jeff Haden, and one of the biggest lessons I’ve learned from this book says…

The people who actually achieve their goals create routines. They build systems. They consistently take the steps that, in time, will ensure they reach their ultimate goal.
— Jeff Haden

This was very powerful, as it’s not about just setting a  goal, but creating a routine – a system. This is was will ultimately give you the motivation to continue and set healthy habits.

And lastly, don’t forget to enjoy the process!

When you make this an enjoyable experience, you will also be motivated to continue.

I would love to hear from you! So please share your experience with me.

If you haven’t done so already let’s connect on FB and IG

HAPPY MEDITATING!

Namaste!
