What’s in my doula bag!
As a birth doula, I come prepared to help you feel as comfortable and empowered as possible during labor. My doula bag is filled with tools and comfort items to support both physical and emotional needs. Here's a peek at some of the essentials I bring with me:
Rebozo: A traditional Mexican scarf used to help with comfort and positioning during labor. It’s great for relieving tension and offering gentle support in different labor positions.
Speaker: Music or calming sounds can create a soothing environment. I bring a small speaker so you can have your preferred playlist or relaxation sounds during labor.
Electric Candles: These set a peaceful, dimly lit atmosphere, perfect for creating a calm and focused birthing space.
Essential Oils: I use calming scents like lavender or uplifting ones like peppermint, offering gentle aromatherapy to ease anxiety, nausea, or tension.
Combs: Believe it or not, holding a comb during contractions can help shift focus and relieve some discomfort through acupressure on your hands.
Coconut Oil: This natural moisturizer is perfect for massage.
Massage Ball: A small, handy tool for applying pressure on areas that need relief, like the lower back or hips, during labor.
Honey: A quick and natural energy boost for when you need something light to help you through the hard work of labor.
Lactation Breast: I bring a lactation aid for any questions or demonstrations on breastfeeding right after delivery, helping you feel confident with your baby's first feed.
Baby: A baby doll is always in my bag, perfect for showing positions or techniques related to newborn care, such as feeding and swaddling.
These carefully chosen tools help create a nurturing, supportive environment, ensuring you're as comfortable as possible during your birth experience. Each item serves to empower and calm you as you bring your baby into the world!
